Even though the SRT Viper
has only just recently started reaching customers, Dodge has already
gone ahead and revealed a focused, track ready version dubbed the SRT Viper TA.
Standing for “Time Attack,” the TA in the name underscores this model’s
performance credentials. Coming in direct response to a comparison test
undertaken by Motor Trend
in which the outgoing Chevy Corvette ZR1 beat the new SRT Viper GTS,
the TA boasts a lower curb weight than the regular Viper and
track-focused suspension, brakes and steering. While the engine remains
unchanged, the figure’s tell a different story, with the TA reaching
0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. Just 33 of these brawny Viper’s will be
produced in 2013, all of them in the Orange Crush paint job pictured;
From next year onwards, the TA will also be offered in black and white.
With numbers as limited as they are, don’t expect to see too many of
these on you daily commute.
