The Artist Is Present: Jay Z as Fine Art
Jay Z's made it a priority to let the world know that he appreciates art. His latest project, Magna Carta Holy Grail,
included enough fine art references to sound like it could be a MoMA
commercial jingle, which was then coupled with his recent short film
directed by Mark Romanek, a tribute of sorts to Marina Abramovic.
Throughout his 16-track album Hov managed to name-drop a list of artists
whose work I'm sure he can afford to buy, hang in his crib and
encourage Blue to "lean on that shit."
We get it, you can wipe your ass with hundred dollar bills, but sorry Jay, you're neither "the new Jean Michel" or "the modern day Pablo Picasso." If said artists could return the favor and include you in their work though, it might look something like this.
